Edward De Vooght is a senior Researcher at Artevelde University of Applied Sciences in Ghent, Expertise network Communication Media and Design, and an affiliated member of the Center for Journalism Studies. His background, activities and projects are varied and his expertise is profoundly interdisciplinary. He holds a PhD in Political Communication as a FWO-fellow fundamental research on rhetorical style in political speeches under supervision of Prof. Liselot Hudders and Prof. Sarah Van Leuven. Before that, however, he studied Latin and Italian Literature and Cognitive Literary Studies.

As such, Edward De Vooght has published in a wide range of disciplines, ranging from metaphors studies and linguistics, to empirical literary studies, political and persuasive communication. He has experience in science communication and science communication research. In 2022 and 2023 he taught Interpersonal Communication and Interdisciplinary Consumer Behavior to students enrolled in Communication Sciences at Ghent University.

Currently, his research activities center around how insights into rhetoric and communication might impact science communication and critical thinking abilities in educational settings. He is always looking for research collaborations, as long as they are daring, fun and a tiny bit crazy.
