Centre for Local Politics
The CLP conducts research into various aspects of local politics. It focuses on the complex set of institutions, actors and processes in and around municipalities and provinces. In its research, the CLP does not only focus on the autonomy of local authorities, but also studies the interactions with the various levels within and above the local level. The CLP also conducts research into comparisons with other countries.
- Elections and voting behavior: exitpolls, coalition formation
- Political institutions and actors: mayor, aldermen, municipal council, province council, political leadership
- Scale and multi-level governance: mergers, intermunicipal cooperation, regionalization, Europeanization, policy networks
