Development of vaccine nanocarriers with the use of NMR toolbox

livia 2017Development of vaccine nanocarriers with the use of NMR toolbox

The present project aims at both the elaboration of new nanoparticulate vaccines and the further development of their characterization using NMR. I build up core@shell nanospheres composed of silica core and zirconia or hydroxyapatite shell. I attach parts of bacterial DNA onto their surface. Then I use classical (DLS, FTIR, TEM etc.) and state of the art characterization methods e.g. NMR toolbox elaborated at UGent for their analysis and structure optimization. Further, I will spend time in several biology research groups to get trained for the functional testing of my own particles.
