Medieval Seminar Series

The Pirenne Institute organises lectures and seminars as part of the Medieval Seminar Series. Speakers at our Lunch Lectures vary from visiting scholars, to members of the institute, to invited experts.

We also organise Sources Seminars, in which members of the institute facilitate an in-depth discussion of selected sources and new and traditional methodologies.

Our Collaborative Seminars consist of a series of meetings for junior and senior scholars with related research interests to prepare and organise an open, interdisciplinary workshop on a common theme, such as Narratives of Self and Others; Letters; Knowledge and Learning.

Autumn School

We provide specialist courses and summer or autumn schools for postgraduate students, where international experts teach historical languages and the auxiliary sciences of Medieval Studies. Occasionally schools can be thematic.

Postgraduate students from Ghent university, other Belgian universities and abroad can attend.

Upcoming specialist courses are announced in our event-listing.
