Elective courses in the Master in Business Engineering - Finance

In the master in Business Engineering: Finance students have two possibilities to choose elective courses in the first year:

  • 14 credits elective courses related to the main subject
  • 6 credits elective courses

Students who wish to follow more than 14 credits in the module 'elective courses related to the main subject' can choose to take up less than 6 credits in the module 'elective courses'. However, students cannot choose to take up less than 14 credits in the module 'elective courses related to the main subject' to take up more than 6 credits in the module 'elective courses'.

Elective courses related to the main subject (14 credits)

  • Some courses mentioned in the list below are organised in a modular structure (these are the general courses from the master in Business Economics). These courses have been marked with the letter 'M' in the list below. Other deadlines apply for these courses 

      - modular courses organised in the first block of the first semester: it is not possible to enrol or make changes after September 30th 2025

      - modular courses organised in the first block of the second semester: it is not possible to enrol or make changes after February 15th 2026

Elective courses (6 credits)

Student can choose 6 credits in elective courses from 1 or 2 modules listed below. A course that has already been chosen in the module 'elective courses related to the main subject' cannot be chosen again in the module 'elective courses'.

The course 'Advanced asset allocation' mentioned in the list below is organised in the modular structure (this is a general course from the master in Business Economics). This course has been marked with the letter 'M' in the list below. Other deadlines apply for this course:

  • modular courses organised in the first block of the first semester: it is not possible to enrol or make changes after September 30th 2025
  • modular courses organised in the first block of the second semester: it is not possible to enrol or make changes after February 15th 2026

* Enrolment for the internship is bound to deadlines, which depends on the period in which students wish to take the internship. In addition: it is only allowed to enrol for the internship after the internship coordinator has approved the internship agreement. More information about the internship

** Students cannot enrol for the elective course 'leadership for student directors' by themselves, they need to ask for approval of the responsible professor Brent Neyt before October 1st. More information about this course and how you can apply for admission, can be found in the course specifications. After approval of the professor, the course will be added to the curriculum by the international office.
