Programme

The Welcome Week will be organised from September 18th until September 22nd, the week before the start of the academic year. The programme contains practical information sessions as well as fun activities. This programme was developed in order to provide you with all necessary information for a smooth start and to get to know your fellow students along the way. This is why all new international degree students are obligated to participate in this programme. The Welcome Week is free of charge but registration is mandatory. The official invitation with the registration link will be sent by the end of August.

Afternoon free / drop-in for urgent questions Get to know your fellow students Attend the Welcome Days for all new international students  at Ghent University Cultural immersion: information about living in Ghent, learning Dutch, etc. Ask any last questions you may have during lunch in our garden

Monday September 18th: DROP IN

  • Did you already arrive in Ghent and have urgent questions?
  • On Monday you can find us in the International Office all day, just drop in and we'll be happy to help!

Wednesday September 20th: DIVE IN

WHAT

  • Ufora, Oasis, SharePoint, TimeEdit,… has anyone ever heard of these digital platforms?
  • You’ll soon be using these platforms on a daily basis so dive in our digital platforms and we’ll show you how and when to use them correctly! Make sure to bring your own device so we can practice together. In addition, we'll also give more information about the master thesis and the possibility to do an internship during your studies. In the afternoon, you can attend the Welcome Days for all new international students at Ghent University, organised by the International Support Team.

Thursday September 21st: BLEND IN

Blend in

WHAT

  • Have you never been in Belgium before and have no clue about our habits and our food?
  • No worries, we will help you to blend in by showing you the beautiful city of Ghent with some delicacies along the way and a cultural information session!

  • 10am - 5pm

WHERE

  • Sint-Baafsplein in the city centre of Ghent (guided tour) and Campus Dunant (information session)

Friday September 22nd: COME IN

Find your way

 WHAT

  • Not yet sure where the faculty library is or the best places to study?
  • Come in on campus Tweekerken and discover all classrooms and study places. We'll finish with a lunch in our garden (if Belgian weather allows us) where you can ask any questions you may still have.
