Programme

The Welcome Week will be organised from September 14th until September 18th, the week before the start of the academic year. The programme contains practical information sessions as well as fun activities. This programme was developed in order to provide you with all necessary information for a smooth start and to get to know your fellow students along the way. This is why all new international degree students are obligated to participate in this programme. The Welcome Week is free of charge but registration is mandatory. The official invitation with the registration link will be sent in August.

Cultural visit of the city and information session

Information session and Q&A with an experienced degree student, followed by a lunch.

Monday September 14th: SETTLE IN

  • For urgent questions, you can visit us in the International Office

Tuesday September 15th: MEET

WHAT

  • Eager to find out who you will be spending the next year(s) of your life with?
  • Our student association VEK will take you on a short tour through the campus and you have the opportunity to meet your fellow students

WHERE

  • Campus Tweekerken, building Hoveniersberg, classroom Vlerick

Wednesday September 16th: LEARN

WHAT

  • Study programs, schedules, digital platforms, thesis, ... any other questions?
  • We will be covering all practicalities during this information session
  • Make sure to bring your own device so you can follow along

Thursday September 17th: EXPLORE

WHAT

  • Have you never been in Belgium before and have no clue about our habits and our food?
  • No worries, we will help you integrate by showing you the beautiful city of Ghent with some delicacies along the way and a cultural information session! 

WHEN

  • 10am - 5pm

WHERE

  • Sint-Baafsplein in the city centre of Ghent (guided tour) and Campus UFO (information session)

Friday September 18th: CONNECT

 WHAT

  • Any questions about life as an international student?
  • An experienced degree student will answer any remaining questions you may have. 
  • A free lunch is held in the foyer, where the exchange students will also be joining us
