Jean Monnet Module: ‘On-line UGent Academy for Ukrainian Lecturers: EU Law and Policy’ : Call is open now!

(15-12-2023) Following the successful completion of the project’s first year (2022-2023), the Jean Monet Module “On-line UGent Academy for Ukrainian Lecturers: EU Law and Policy” (UGent_ACADEMY4UA) is thrilled to open a new call. Deadline: 01 March 2024

About the course

Within UGent_ACADEMY4UA Ghent University offers a certificate course and training for Ukrainian professionals with an interest in EU related disciplines.

The course consists of 62 teaching hours devoted to different aspects of EU law and policy (history and development of the European Integration; constitutional aspects of the EU; human rights, rule of law, democracy and legitimacy in the EU; EU trade and competition policy; the EU international personality; EU Security and Defence Policy; social policy; Neighbourhood policy; EU and Ukraine) to be held online in April-June 2024 (see a tentative schedule below). It also includes several workshops to develop and refine transferable skills on planning and writing a grant proposal.

Besides, UGent_ACADEMY4UA provides a platform to discuss problems of teaching EU law and policy in Ukraine and serves as a tool of academic diplomacy fostering cooperation between EU and Ukrainian academia.

The target group: UGent_ACADEMY4UA is a tailor-made, innovative course specially designed for Ukrainian researchers (PhD students and postdocs) and lecturers/trainers whose professional activity is focused on EU law and policy to meet their teaching and methodological needs. The course will bring together researchers, educators or trainers who have the motivation to develop and improve their competences in the field of European studies and who are affiliated with Ukrainian universities/ research institutes. The participants must commit to the full duration of the course and have a good proficiency of English.

How to participate

All interested candidates need to apply before 01 March, 2024 by sending a short bio (300 words max.) and a motivation letter (500 words max.) to academy4ua@ugent.be.

Up to 25 Ukrainian scholars, lecturers and trainers will be offered a spot at the UGent_ACADEMY4UA.

The successful applicants will be notified by 01 April, 2024.

Participation in the Jean Monnet Module UGent_ACADEMY4UA is free of charge.

Upon successful completion of the course (attendance of 90 percent of classes) the participants will be issued a certificate of attendance.
