Erasmus incoming students

This page is meant for Erasmus students and contains information about the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The main language of instruction at Ghent University is Dutch. Students wishing to attend courses taught in Dutch are required to have an advanced level of Dutch proficiency. The Ghent University Language Centre offers intensive Dutch courses for international students.

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences offers an exchange programme with a selection of courses taught in English. These courses are primarily offered at master’s level.

The exchange programme includes a preferred list of English-taught courses within the programmes of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Regulations and tips Learning Agreement

  • You have to compose a programme of approximately 30 ECTS-credits per semester, with a minimum of 20 ECTS-credits per semester.
  • For a total of max. 50% of the ECTS, English-taught courses from other faculties can be added (subject to the explicit approval of the faculty(ies) concerned).
  • All selected courses in your learning agreement are subject to approval.

Subscribe to no more than 9 credit units from the list of Majors and to no more than 3 credit units from the list of Elective courses.

The Study Guide  gives a complete overview of all study programs at the different faculties of UGent as well as the ECTS credits, corresponding to each course.

However the policy of choice in our faculty is that incoming students are involved in a research project in one of the departments. To this end, knowledge of Dutch is not a prerequisite.

Within our faculty, the policy of choice for incoming exchange students is to participate in a research project in one of the departments. For this reason, prior knowledge of Dutch is not required.

Please note that students are responsible for contacting a potential promotor in one of our research labs. Once a promotor has agreed to supervise the research project, the student may start the application procedure for exchange students.
