History of the collection L03

The collection originates in large part from the former seminar library of ‘Ancient History’ (GUS 103), which was supplemented with significant parts of the former seminar library of ‘Greek Epigraphy and Papyrology’ (GUS 145/L45).

History of Religions was an important research domain for P. Lambrechts, J. Devreker and R. Duthoy. The old collection section (from before 1980) is of a high standard, but its expansion decreased significantly from the 1980s onwards. Under P. Van Nuffelen, it regained topical value. In the autumn of 2014, the collection was transferred to the Faculty Library of Arts and Philosophy. Part of the collection was stored in the depot (mainly less topical works).
