Simon Perneel is a data engineer/scientist at imec-mict-UGent. He obtained a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering Technology, Electronics-ICT (KU Leuven, 2020) and an additional master in Artificial Intelligence (KU Leuven, 2021). In his master’s thesis, he investigated the optimization of human activity recognition systems based on wearable sensors.
He joined mict in October 2021 to work on the MobileDNA project. He is especially interested in the applicability of AI-techniques in real-world problems.
