Jonas De Bruyne obtained his Master’s degree in Theoretical and Experimental Psychology at Ghent University in 2021. In the academic year of 2020-2021, he performed a research internship at imec-mict-UGent during which he was mainly involved in the SenseCity project. Within this project, he designed and conducted a virtual reality experiment investigating the effects of artificial intelligence-based support systems on human operators working in camera surveillance rooms. Furthermore, this research internship allowed him to gain experience in electroencephalography (EEG). For his Master’s thesis, he investigated the role of context on visual processing in the framework of the Predictive Coding Theory under the supervision of Prof. dr. Durk Talsma.

In August 2021, he started working as a junior researcher at imec-mict-UGent. He is mainly involved in virtual reality projects investigating psychophysiological markers to gain insight into user-experiences. One of his goals is to combine his background in experimental psychology and his interests in state-of-the-art technologies and machine learning techniques.
