Children and youths in the digitalized world are increasingly exposed to multitasking media settings. To date, a growing body of research has been conducted to explore the effect of media multitasking, as either a strategic behaviour towards self-regulatory or a self-regulatory failure, on youth everyday and academic development, yielding mixed findings. To unravel more mechanisms behind the media multitasking behaviour and its intervention, the present PhD project will explore the effectiveness of media multitasking/ media multitasking interventions on youths’ academic competence and performance from a self-regulation perspective.
