Casper Cogen

Casper Cogen is a Joint Ph.D. candidate at the University of Genoa and Ghent University. At the University of Genoa, he is pursuing a doctorate in European Studies: Social and Economic Policies and Political Sciences under the supervision of Prof. Enrico di Bella. Simultaneously, at Ghent University, he is conducting research in Political Sciences in collaboration with the Centre for Sustainability Studies and the research network Stadsacademie, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Thomas Block.

He holds degrees in Literature and Linguistics as well as Conflict and Development Studies from Ghent University. His doctoral research focuses on Futures Studies and Urban Studies, with a particular emphasis on utopian thinking, sustainability, mobility, inclusion, and prefigurative and participative politics. Among his other research interests are sociological, feminist, and post-colonial theories.

While writing his doctoral thesis, he is actively involved in several projects, including LiguriaTourism (the revalorisation of Gallinara Island) and Digital ACE, a nationwide Italian initiative supporting cooperatives in digital transformation and sustainable business development. Additionally, he works as a teaching assistant for French at the Department of International and Political Sciences at the University of Genoa and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Modern Literature.
