Dr. Charlotte Prové
Charlotte Prové is the coordinator of the Stadsacademie at Ghent University. She focuses on developing, supporting and stimulating inter- and transdisciplinary research and education activities on wicked sustainability issues in the context of Ghent. Core tasks are building expertise on transdisciplinarity and the societal valorization and impact of the Stadsacademie’s activities.
The Stadsacademie is one of the 9 Interdisciplinary Research Consortia (IDC’s) at Ghent University. As an IDC-coordinator, part of her time is devoted to carrying out Ghent University policy on interdisciplinarity and societal impact.
Charlotte holds a master’s degree in Sociology and in Nutrition and Rural Development (both completed at Ghent University). She obtained her PhD at the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering (Ghent University/ILVO). Between 2013-2020 Charlotte worked as a researcher at the Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (ILVO). Her research focuses on the politics and governance of sustainable food systems and can best be situated in the field of political ecology. Previous research projects are mainly grounded in qualitative research methods and have more specifically focused on local food policy making, social and environmental justice in urban agriculture, the role of civic participation and community building, and farmers’ wellbeing.
