Artificiële intelligentie (AI) biedt heel wat mogelijkheden, maar er zijn ook een aantal uitdagingen inzake gegevensbescherming en het aanpakken van cybercriminaliteit. De Europese Unie werkt aan een regelgevend kader voor het gebruik van AI. Hiermee probeert het vat te krijgen op de voorwaarden voor de ontwikkeling en het gebruik van deze innovatieve technologie. Wat valt van deze nieuwe AI-wetgeving te verwachten? Hoe kunnen voordelen en uitdagingen worden verzoend? Het komt allemaal aan bod in deze lezing rond de regulering van AI in de EU.

Artificial intelligence (AI) creates a lot of opportunities but there also many challenges with respect to data protection and cybercrime. The European Union works on a first regulation on AI to ensure better conditions for the development and use of this innovative technology. What can be expected from this new AI Act? How can the benefits and challenges be reconciled? It will all be discussed in this lecture about regulating artificial intelligence in the EU.
