Ruben De La Cruz

Credits: Hermine Van CoppenolleRuben De La Cruz is a PhD fellow at the Ghent Institute for International and European Studies. After completing his Bachelor in Political Science, Ruben obtained a Master’s degree in EU Studies from Ghent University with the highest distinction (summa cum laude). He received the Marthe Versichelen award for his master’s dissertation on the state aid politics of Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI).

Funded by the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO), Ruben studies the political economy of European green industrial policy and the great-power politics of the green transition. He researches the EU policy instruments employed to foster Europe’s strategic autonomy by strengthening its industrial production of green technologies.
