Dr. Laura Luciani

Laura Luciani is a postdoctoral researcher at the Ghent Institute for International and European Studies (Ghent University). Her research examines the EU's attempts to transform the countries and (civil) societies of the South Caucasus through the spread of human rights and democracy norms.

Laura received her PhD degree in Political Sciences from Ghent University in 2022. She has previous professional experience in EU(-related) institutions, having interned at the European Commission and European Endowment for Democracy (Brussels); in the civil society sector in Georgia, as an Erasmus+ volunteer at the Women’s Information Center NGO (Tbilisi); and as a writer and editor with the East Journal and Kiosk, two Italian media outlets focused on Eastern Europe.

She is also a junior scholar organiser of International Political Sociology (IPS) Belgium, part of the international network DoingIPS.
