Guillaume Van der Loo

Guillaume Van der Loo is a postdoctoral researcher (FWO) at the Ghent European Law Institute (GELI). He holds a Master Degree in European Studies (Ghent University, 2009, Greatest Distinction) and obtained a ‘Master of Advanced Studies in European Law (L.L.M.)’ (Ghent University, 2010, Great Distinction). He also studied at the University of Firenze (2007-2008) in the framework of the Erasmus-programme.

Guillaume’s PhD research focused on the new generation of EU Association Agreements and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Areas with the Eastern Partnership countries. His thesis, defended in 2014, is published as a monograph (Brill/Nijhoff, 2016). He has also published several articles and book chapters on the legal dimension of the EU’s neighbourhood relations.  His postdoctoral research covers EU trade law and other aspects of EU external relations law.

Guillaume is also a researcher at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels.
