Jeroen Capiau

Jeroen Capiau joined the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission in 2009. He is currently a case handler in the Food Task Force which deals with competition cases and policy regarding the entire food supply chain. Before, he worked as a policy officer in the Unit responsible for the European Competition Network, including on the preparation of the Commission proposal on the ECN+ Directive.

Previously, he worked for the Belgian Competition Authority where he first was employed as a case handler in the investigation branch and later became a member of the decision-making branch. Before working in the area of competition enforcement, he was a teaching assistant at the European Law Institute of Ghent University.

Mr. Capiau holds a degree in Law (1998), in Advanced Studies in European Law (1999), in Complementary Studies in Media & Communication (2000) from Ghent University and a Certificate in Public Management (2007) from the University of Leuven. He has published several articles on EU competition law and the law of the Internal Market.
