Liesbet Van den Broeck

Liesbet Van den Broeck holds a Master in Law (Ghent University 2003, summa cum laude) and a Master in European Law (Ghent University 2004, summa cum laude).


She joined GELI in March 2009 and works as a Teaching Assistant at the European Law Department. She also works at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation as an agent of the Belgian Government before the Court of Justice of the European Union.


Her main interests are issues concerning the internal market, in particular free movement of persons and services. In that framework she wrote a PhD on “Indirect discrimination based on nationality. Theory and practice regarding the grounds of justification invoked by EU Member States before the Court of Justice of the European Union in the area of free movement of services and persons, with special attention to education in the area of free movement of persons”.
