Faculty Board

The Faculty Board consists of three elected members:

• Prof. Isabel Van Driessche (Dean)
• Prof. Peter Dawyndt  (Academic Secretary)
• Prof. Dominique Adriaens (Director of Studies)

In addition, the faculty may choose to appoint two additional board members. 

Given that the Faculty of Sciences is a true research-oriented faculty, a Research Director is automatically nominated.

For the final position in the Faculty Board, the faculty employs a thematic approach. The faculty puts forward a theme that it aims to focus on as a priority during the policy period, after which a board member with the necessary expertise is nominated. In the previous policy period, this theme revolved around external relations and collaboration with VIB and GUGC. In the current policy period, the focus is on talent management.

In addition to preparing and implementing general policies and overseeing the HR committees, the faculty board has certain statutory powers, whether acquired through delegated authority or not.

The composition of the Faculty Board was ratified in the Faculty Council meeting on August 24, 2022.
