The number of people experiencing chronic stress and discomfort in relation to their work is constantly increasing. Fortunately, in recent years there has also been more awareness around the importance of mental well-being at work. Micro-aggressions with Delia Mensitieri

Microaggressions are widespread and are often unconsciously hurtful. Since microaggressions are usually not meant to be negative, there is currently even less recognition of the problem than with explicit discrimination. Therefore, UGent wants to create more awareness so that we can all better reflect on our own behavior and hurtful statements. After all, in the long run, microaggressions have a major impact on the well-being of the people against whom they are directed.

About the speaker

Delia Mensitieri is a doctoral researcher at Vlerick Business School. She works on identity and inclusion in the workplace. In doing so, she explores the dynamics created by a diverse and inclusive workforce.

Delia is also active in the corporate world as a trainer and consultant on the topics of diversity and inclusion, and has previously worked with several international clients. She focuses on understanding microaggressions and their impact on career aspirations, performance and well-being. She strives to bridge the gap between science and practice by bringing together the best of both worlds to make a difference.
