Spatial dynamics in the wood sector of the future

Forests increasingly need to provide different forest functions, global changes affect both forests and the wood supply chain and more and more stakeholders are involved in forest management.

Strategic forestry planning requires a long-term vision and needs to take into account possibly conflicting policy goals.

How do we contribute

We are developing a decision support system to answer policy or management related questions on the wood supply chain in a Western European context.

Why

The knowledge to indicate when, where, and how many wood resources can be harvested, can improve the formulation of more realistic policy goals and can enhance the efficient use of forest resources.
