Learning Lab

In our Learning Lab, we discuss our experiences and exchange knowledge in teaching and learning methods suitable for the university environment and the marketplace. We keep an open dialogue with traditional industry and creative industry (e.g., museums) and other learning labs to keep delivering relevant design curricula and work-ready graduates. We offer training to industry and academic partners from non-design disciplines for the latest or/and established methods for developing resilient skills and mindset by implementing design-based methodologies, such as the Design Thinking methodology and game-based learning.

Bio-Makerspace

In our BioFabLab, we combine DIY and GIY (grow it yourself) materials with various transformation technologies. Our experiments focus on discovering possible applications of existing front-end materials. Our goal is to increase the expertise of our students Industrial Design, UGent Campus Kortrijk towards the implementation and reuse of bio-based by-products in their design process and results..

Computational Design & Digital Fabrication Lab

In our Computational Design & Fabrication Lab, we explore and combine the latest digital design techniques with digital fabrication techniques. We investigate how to best design products for new digital production techniques (optimizing the design for these new techniques). But we also explore these digital techniques in order to identify opportunities for new designs.

Digital Design Tools Lab

In our Digital Design Tools lab, we investigate how to use existing digital tools such as Virtual Reality as efficiently as possible in the design process.

Medical Product Design Lab

In our design lab for new industrial production, we will look at how we can design products and product systems so that they can be easily and efficiently produced in the manufacturing companies of today and tomorrow. We also look very closely at the possible interactions with the designed product within this context, and from product development we build the bridge to production.

Product design Lab for New Industrial Production (Industry 5.0)

In our design lab for new industrial production, we will look at how we can design products and product systems so that they can be easily and efficiently produced in the manufacturing companies of today and tomorrow. We also look very closely at the possible interactions with the designed product within this context, and from product development we build the bridge to production.
