Faculty Council

The faculty is governed by the Faculty Council, which is presided by the dean.

The Faculty Council:

  • consists of the department chairs, elected representatives of professorial staff members, assistants, administrative staff members and students.
  • is charged with the task of organising and coordinating the manner in which tuition is provided and the manner in which science is practised in the various disciplines of the faculty.
  • is authorized to perform the following tasks:
    • appointing the lecturers
    • awarding a shorter study duration
    • deciding which years are to be organised on a part-time basis
  • advises the university board about:
    • the establishment of education regulations and study programmes
    • the organisation of continuing academic programmes
    • the admission requirements for the academic second-cycle study programmes
    • the organisation of certain entrance exams
    • the establishment of vacancies for academic staff
    • the appointment, temporary appointment and promotion of professors
