CocoNut - Communication & collaboration network utilities

About

CocoNut is an ISBO project in which researchers from the IBBT are seeking new social models, processes and technological solutions for cooperation and communication within a virtual multidisciplinary organisational structure. This is being done by means of a user-orientated approach.

In multidisciplinary projects, the researchers often have highly divergent backgrounds, each with their own domain-specific jargon and working processes. Within its own organisation, each group uses its own tools and methods in order to optimise working processes. However, when these teams participate in virtual multidisciplinary joint ventures which transcend the boundaries of their own organisational cultures, it often turns out that their methods, routines and tools are not compatible with the others. Starting from a thorough analysis of existing practices, working processes and needs within the various IBBT research groups, the CoCoNut project searches for new methods and instruments that will allow efficient cooperation and communication between multidisciplinary teams.

Duration of the project

The project runs from 01/01/2008 - 31/12/2009.
