The Future of Video Consumption

Media consumption

Younger media generations are turning to mobile and social video platforms such as YouTube, IGTV and TikTok and are likely to replace traditional television services by streaming platforms. The project intends to dive into changing video consumption patterns and to understand the role of new forms of video consumption in the lives of young people.

We at imec-mict-UGent identify changes in media consumption behaviour, and put these changes in the wider societal and economic context. Based on an in-depth examination of media consumption behaviour, we inform media organisations on future strategies.
