Chih-Huan Chen

Credits: Hermine Van CoppenolleChih-Huan Chen is a PhD researcher at the Ghent Institute for International and European Studies at Ghent University. Prior to his doctoral journey, Chih-Huan obtained his Master degree from Graduate Institute of European Studies at Tamkang University in Taiwan. During this period, he actively served as a research assistant, contributing to various research programmes such as Flexible Integration and Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP); Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) and European Defence Fund (EDF); Counter-terrorism Strategy of the EU to Fight against Islamic State’s Foreign Fighters and Returnees, etc.

Chih-Huan’s academic involvements has cultivated and widened his research interests which encompass EU foreign affairs and defence policy, EU political institutions, international security and terrorism issues. Apart from those elements, he also dedicates to International Relations Theory and Theory of European Integration. By combining these interests, his PhD research will focus on the development of the EU military integration, e.g., European Army, in the context of the Russo-Ukrainian War.
