We are pleased to welcome you to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Ghent University!

The invitation letter is required for registration upon arrival and for your visa application (if applicable). The approval procedure can take several weeks.

The application deadlines are 15 May (1st semester) and 15 November (2nd semester).
Complete the following steps of the application procedure.
Language
At the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences the official language of instruction is Dutch.
However, some programmes offer courses taught in English or certain facilities (e.g. internship) to English-speaking students. We expect a very good knowledge of English from incoming students (CEF B2-level or higher). Be aware that you will not be allowed to start if you do not meet the language requirements.

Buddy Programme
Studying abroad comes with a lot of excitement but could also be a bit confusing at the start. For example, as a new student at our faculty, you may not find your way around campus right away. In order to make you feel welcome at our faculty and to make your stay with us as comfortable as possible, we have set up a buddy programme. Once you are accepted as an incoming student, you will be contacted by your buddy!
Welcome Days
The Welcome Days too are designed to make your transition to Ghent University and university life as smooth as possible. In September and February you can join the Welcome Days where you will receive all information to guarantee an enriching and pleasant stay at Ghent University.
- Activities are offered both by Ghent University and by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
