Faculty recording studio
Staff and students from the Faculties of Arts and Philosophy and Political and Social Sciences are welcome to use our recording studio.
The faculty recording studio is located in the Magnel wing of the faculty library. It is primarily set up as a podcast and audio studio. However, it can also be configured for purposes such as video pitches.
Researchers and lecturers may use the space and borrow equipment for research and teaching purposes. Students from the Faculties of Arts and Philosophy and Political and Social Sciences may also book the studio or borrow specific items for coursework.
Equipment and facilities
Podcasting and audio recording
The studio is equipped with four professional microphones. You can connect these via an audio interface to your own device or to the studio's Mac which comes with GarageBand, Reaper, and Audacity already installed. There are also four pairs of headphones available for monitoring the recordings.
Recording a field interview instead? You can borrow a Tascam DR-40X recorder (including a windscreen), optionally complemented with:

A lapel microphone
Video Recording
Two cameras (Canon XA11 full HD camcorders) are available, including tripods. These can be supplemented with two microphones (including windscreen) or a lapel microphone.
All video equipment can be used in the studio or can be loaned out for teaching assignments.
When used in the studio, you can set up a green screen and a few studio lights. You can also monitor the recordings, record directly via OBS or edit using Da Vinci Resolve.
Equipment can be used in the studio, and much of it can also be borrowed for course-related assignments.

Professional recording studio in Home Vermeylen
Teaching staff can also use the university's professional recording studio in Home Vermeylen (Stalhof 8).
