How can we create a connected cooking system that improves the cooking and eating experience by combining technical and culinary expertise?

IoT Chef will use IoT technology to develop a connected system that enables cooking tools and appliances to “talk” to each other. Not only can this lead to more efficient and healthy food preparation, the system will also give intelligent meal recommendations based on users’ unique preferences.

We at imec-mict-UGent are doing research to define use-cases based on user, functional and technical requirements. We perform a profiling survey and contextual inquiry to identify what type of cooking profiles can be delineated among the Flemish population: What are their current practices, needs, frustrations, and goals? We use methods such as co-creation workshops with end-users and consortium partners, lab evaluation of proof of concept, test and evaluate QoE level of smart kitchen infrastructure.
