EBSI - European Blockchain Service Infrastructure

Self-sovereign identity
Blockchain technology
Decentralized technologies

How can maximal societal value be created and how can the adoption be enhanced in the diploma use case in scope of a European self sovereign identity framework on top of a European blockchain services infrastructure?

Self-sovereign identity (SSI) solutions will influence the way identity, a central element to a functioning society and economy, is dealt with, influencing how people organise their lives and conduct their jobs in a profound way.

To ensure the maximal societal value and adoption of SSI solutions, imec-mict-UGent will:

1) study people's current identity claims, practices and procedures in the digital identity landscape and

2) identify their real needs and requirements.

This will be done by means of desk research and in-depth interviews with (identity) experts and academics in different member states (where possible in collaboration with the legal and economic partners). The report will include recommendations towards policy and governance procedures based on end-user insights and will set a future European research agenda on this topic.

We at imec-mict-UGent are responsible for a societal report that will include recommendations towards policy and governance procedures based on end-user insights and will set a future European research agenda on this topic.
