Trials autumn 2024

APA PsycTherapy

The APA streaming video platform allows psychologists, therapists, lecturers and students/interns to hone their skills by observing candid, unscripted psychotherapy sessions with renowned therapists. This proven training method is an invaluable tool for learning and staying up-to-date on the latest psychotherapy techniques. The collection consists of 900 training and reference videos covering various methods, including:

  • Emotion-focused skills training with Norwegian author and psychotherapist Dr. Anne Hilde Vassbø Hagen.
  • Extended exposure therapy, an effective treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder.
  • Narrative therapy with Drs. Lynne Angus, Stephen Madigan and Mark L. Savickas.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) with creator and developer Dr. Francine Shapiro.

The test-access database will be available until 30 October at tinyurl.com/APAPsycTherapy. Find more info in the manual.

LitmapsLitmap APA PsycTherapy

Among other things, this programme allows you to quickly find the most important articles on a subject and to visually map references and how they relate to each other. Create an account with your UGent e-mail address and get 100 % access to all facilities. The trial runs from 1 October to 15 December 2024.

Study room opening hours: stay informed automatically!

The study room on the first floor is regularly used for classes or other teaching activities. Would you like to know automatically when the study room is available? Then copy and paste the following link into your calendar app: https://cloud.timeedit.net/ugent/web/staff/ri69Z9y8Z8Y4Z1Q0QtQn76A4Z28Qu53dtQ088Zw566604QQu560ZF4AB61D9E18FDC368C9EBCC9F5.ics

For example:

  • In Google Calendar: Settings > Add calendar > From URL
  • In Outlook: Add calendar > Subscribe via internet

This link imports the next four weeks of activities to your own calendar and is updated automatically.

Note: during exam periods, the study room is almost continuously reserved as a study area, indicated by the designation "Infodag". If the study space is occupied, another designation will be used, such as "Training".

New opening hours for the circulation desk starting 9 October 2023

In academic year 2023-2024, the library implemented some changes: the opening hours of the study rooms were separated from our services at the circulation desk. For inquiries, borrowing books, reservations, returns, library staff is available at the following times:

  • Monday 09:00 - 18:00
  • Tuesday 11:00 - 14:00
  • Wednesday 09:00 - 18:00
  • Thursday 11:00 - 14:00
  • Friday 11:00 - 14:00

As you can see: you can bring your inquiries to us every day between 11:00 - 14:00. On Mondays and Wednesdays the desk is open a little longer. Scans of articles and chapters can still be requested 24/7 via lib.ugent.be. And, of course, you can also return books via the return box, which you can find next to the library's entrance. See you soon!

scanYes we scan!

Are you in urgent need of a particular chapter or article? Don’t worry!

First, have a look to see if the article is available online (e.g. via Google Scholar). If not, we’ll be happy to scan it for you. You can request any article, chapter, table of contents, index, glossary, bibliography, reference list, etc. from our print collection via lib.ugent.be.

Search the collections by the title of the journal or book. Then, click on ‘Request scanned article’ or ‘Get a chapter scanned’. The request form allows you to specify what you’re looking for exactly. We’ll deliver the PDF to you as soon as possible.

Denk na voor je print.Prints, copies and scans

Students can only print, copy and scan with a UGent card on the public multifunctionals. These are located in the entrance hall (ground floor).

You can find all info and how-tos at helpdesk.ugent.be/publicrepro/en/student.

You can not only print on a public UGent computer, but also from your personal computer. In other words: you can generate print jobs while in class or even from home.

How? Open your document via an application in Athena (e.g. Ufora, your preferred browser or File Explorer) and select the ‘Ricoh on pcounter’ printer. Go to a public multifunctional the same calendar day you sent the print job and print as usual.

You can also use the virtual printer ‘PDFCreator’ to save files as PDF.

Top up your account for prints and copies via ugent.mynetpay.be. You can also use Epurse to pay in student restaurants and cafeterias. More information on Epurse can be found at helpdesk.ugent.be/epurse/en.
