Sensing Life: Detecting the Invisible with Biosensors
They’ll learn what a biosensor is, explore real-life examples, and see how lateral flow tests, such as flu kits, work. Students will build simple microfluidic devices to observe fluid flow and color-based detection, then use test strips to measure molecules such as glucose, lactose, or pH in everyday liquids (milk, soda, vinegar). Finally, in small groups, they’ll design and present their own biosensor concepts, applying what they’ve learned to real-world challenges in health, environment, or food safety.
