The Afstudeerbeurs again organises an exclusive Job Market for Young Researchers targeted at doctoral candidates and postdocs. This cross-disciplinary career fair, hosted by AUGent and the Ghent University Doctoral Schools provides a unique opportunity to meet in a single afternoon 100+ companies and organisations in person, collect valuable industry and company information, build networks, practice and sharpen interview techniques, receive valuable career advice, and so much more.

Additionally, programme managers and advisers of FWO, BAEF & Fulbright will shed important light on a wide array of academic challenges and opportunities for PhD students and postdoctoral fellows.

CV analysis: free of charge, but please register

Simultaneous to the job fair CV analysis is being offered. Unfortunately places are limited, so do not postpone booking your 20-minute face-to-face consultation with an expert. Take advantage of this unique, once-a-year opportunity!

Having received confirmation upon registration for the fair, you will be able to log in and arrange a CV analysis by careers advisors from – amongst others – Ghent University, Ghent University TechTransfer, VDAB, Aligno Loopbaan in Actie and Ignace Dewaele. Do not forget to upload your CV and make sure to also bring multiple paper copies of your CV to the job fair!

The CV analysis for PhD students and postdocs takes place on the 2nd floor of the ICC – in the Bauwenszaal.

Do you need help identifying your skills set and selling it? Are you doubting your career direction? Do you not know how to competitively market yourself? Ask one of our career coaches! Book a 20 minute face-to-face talk and discuss your most urgent career question. Having received confirmation upon registration for the fair, you will be able to log in and book your consultation appointment.

The career coaching for PhD students and postdocs takes place on the 2nd floor of the ICC – in room Guislain 3.

Workshops & info sessions

The programme of labour market information sessions and job application workshops for young researchers, to be organised also on the 2nd floor of the ICC, can be consulted here. Pre-registration is necessary only for the CV analysis as part of the Grow2Excel workshop (Guislain 1 @ 15:15 hrs -- limited number of slots available!).

Recognition as transferable skills seminar

Doctoral students who would like to have their job fair attendance recognised as a transferable skills seminar (cluster ‘career management’), are expected to combine their visit to the fair with (registered) participation in at least 2 other activities (workshops, CV analysis, speed career coaching).

Doctoral students visiting the job fair on 2 April, should register with, and pick up further information from, the Doctoral Schools booth which will be set up on the 2nd floor of the ICC.
