The lecture will connect physics, engineering and pharmaceutical sciences and outline concrete collaboration options with UGent and University of Twente

Lecture by Prof David Fernandes Rivas from the University of Twente (Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Chemical Engineer)

"Needle-free injections are moving from science fiction to clinical reality. They promise gentler, safer and more sustainable delivery of medicines and vaccines. I will introduce the BuBble Gunconcept: Laser-driven cavitation in microchannels creates ultra-fast liquid microjets. These jets can penetrate soft tissues with controlled depth and dose. The aim is to reduce pain, tissue damage and sharps waste. I will show how this work leads to advanced drug delivery platforms and to the spin-off FlowBeams. FlowBeams develops portable needle-free injectors for insulin, vaccines and skin treatments."
