14:30 - Charlotte Soneson, Single-cell method benchmarking - current state and future perspectives Many computational tools exist for a given task in single cell data analysis.

I will discuss the current state of the field of method benchmarking, which aims to rigorously compare the performance of different methods using well-studied datasets. I will also point to current challenges, and some efforts that we have taken over the years to make benchmarking more extensible and continuous.

15:15 - Davide Risso, Stochastic generalized matrix factorization for scalable analysis of single-cell RNA-seq

I will present a novel algorithm for estimating high-dimensional generalized matrix factorization models under generic exponential family likelihoods. On single-cell RNA-seq data, our method outperforms existing methods, demonstrating faster execution times while maintaining, or even enhancing, matrix reconstruction fidelity and accuracy.

16:00 - 17:00 Coffee break and Discussions
