Lecture by Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak

“The Humanities” are literature and philosophy. All other disciplines produce knowledge. The humanities teach the practice of learning.

The summer school “The Object(ive) of the Humanities,” organized by members of the Department of History and Philosophy and Moral Sciences at Ghent University with support from the Doctoral School Flanders State of the Art and the FWO project “Human Life? From Philosophy of Life to Philosophical Anthropology” (FWO G007222N), addresses these pressing questions.

We are convinced that these questions have not only academic value but also public significance. That is why we are organizing a series of lectures open to the public on this theme, featuring international speakers.
