Core Facilities
A Core Facility often brings together highly specialised and indispensable scientific expertise, services and research infrastructure in a real or virtual entity (whether or not across disciplines and/or user groups).
Ghent Univerity's approach
A Core Facility promotes cooperation between researchers, both internally and externally, and elaborates a strategy for the renewal and/or expansion of the research infrastructure within the Core Facility.
Its use is open to all researchers within the Core Facility and/or other users within and outside Ghent University.
Ghent University provides a central recognition procedure and co-funding from the Special Research Fund (see intranet).
Overview of our Core Facilities
Using the Core Facilities
Reservations of instruments and services at Core Facilities are arranged via the Core Facility Management Software (CFMS). To do so, one must first be linked as a user to a CFMS lab account.
For external users, CFMS lab accounts are in the name of the applicable external organisation.
- If it concerns a new external organisation that is not yet a client of one of the Ghent University Core Facilities, the corresponding CFMS lab account must first be created. Only then one can be added as a new external user to the CFMS lab account. For the creation of new external CFMS lab accounts and the addition of new external users, please e-mail cfms@ugent.be. Mention which Core Facility you wish to access.
- If one is already registered as a user in CFMS and as such linked to the designated CFMS lab account and the Core Facility one wishes to use, one can log in immediately via cfms.ugent.be.
- Information for internal users: see intranet
