YOUR TASKS

  • Scientific research in the field of Business Informatics to obtain a doctoral degree.
  • Following the mandatory doctoral training programme.
  • Valorisation of research results in the manufacturing industry.
  • Providing support for teaching (a maximum of 4 hours/week).

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a Master’s degree (preferably) in Business Informatics, Business Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems. Degree requirements must be met at the time of appointment.
  • You can demonstrate strong academic results.
  • You have an interest in research aligned with the activities of the Business Informatics research group, in particular the research lines of Professors Seppe vanden Broucke (e.g., applications of deep learning, graph learning, geospatial analytics, process mining), Frederik Gailly (e.g., ontologies, knowledge graphs, process modelling, process support) and Geert Poels (e.g., business architecture, business ecosystem modelling, system-of-systems governance, capability-based management) (https://ugent-businessinformatics.github.io/research/).
  • You are willing to translate research results into solutions for industry.
  • You have an excellent command of the English language.
  • You are a team player, but can also work independently. 

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer a full-time doctoral fellowship of 12 months, extendable to a maximum of 48 months following a positive evaluation.
  • Your contract will start on September 1, 2026 at the earliest.
  • The fellowship amount is 100% of the net salary of an AAP member in equal family circumstances. Team Personnel Administration determined the individual fellowship amount based on family status and seniority. A grant that meets the conditions and criteria of the regulations for doctoral fellowships is considered free of personal income tax.
