Seminar by Dr. Fernández on Project AMISTAD (rethinking loneliness), followed by an interactive ideation and Q&A session to explore collaboration.
This event features a seminar by Dr. Aurelio Fernández on Project AMISTAD, followed by an interactive ideation and Q&A session.
AMISTAD is a large-scale research initiative that reframes loneliness. Rather than focusing strictly on the quantity of social contact, it explores how loneliness stems from a mismatch between a person's social expectations and their actual daily experiences.
Dr. Fernández will outline how the project examines social interaction and solitude as interconnected processes. He will also discuss how external factors—like digital media use, physical environments, individual traits, and cultural representations—influence these dynamics. Methodologically, the study utilizes an innovative design combining experience sampling with passive smartphone sensing across nationally representative Spanish samples.
After, the floor opens for an interactive session. Participants are invited to relate its theoretical and methodological frameworks to their own research.
