The work of British psychoanalyst Bion, led by Prof Rudi Vermote, focuses on group dynamics and dialogue between Anglo-Saxon and French PA.

This doctoral course will provide an in-depth introduction to the work of the British psychiatrist W.R. Bion, one of the most influential post-Freudian psychoanalysts, whose ideas have shaped both clinical practice and psychoanalytic theory worldwide. The course will be structured around a reading and discussion of Bion’s main conceptual contributions, moving from his early epistemological formulations to his later ontological explorations.

Besides the in-depth introduction, the course has two primary goals: to explore his work on group experiences and its influence on group theory, and to initiate a dialogue between Anglo-Saxon and French psychoanalytic theories.
