Meet the Expert Symposium with talks by Prof Dr. Camiel Boon and Dr. Vasiliki Kalatzis

The event will take place on the afternoon (14:00-16.:00) preceding the public PhD defense of Eline Van Vooren (17.00h). It forms part of a seminar featuring Prof Dr. Camiel Boon from Amsterdam UMC (The Netherlands), who is a renowned expert in hereditary retinal diseases, gene and stem cell therapy, central serous chorioretinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

In addition, Dr. Vasiliki Kalatzis from L’Institut des Neurosciences de Montpellier (France) will present her work involving human iPSC-derived retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and organoid models to determine the genetic basis and unravel the pathophysiology of inherited retinal diseases (IRDs), in addition to the development of innovative therapies.
