Application criteria

The Housing Office will be able to process your housing application once you received your “Letter of Admission” from Ghent University. The Housing Office will not be able to meet requests from degree candidates without an approved Letter of Admission. You do not have to contact us after submitting your housing application through OASIS, we will receive this information automatically.
You will receive a follow-up notification regarding your housing application within two weeks after the acceptance as a student or after submitting your Housing application, whichever came last. You do not have to initiate the follow-up, we will get back to you automatically and as soon as possible.

A number of single rooms are available for DEGREE students of Ghent University.
Priority is given to students enrolled in an Erasmus Mundus program and in a program subsidized by VLIR.

Erasmus Mundus students

Degree students who passed level 5 of the Dutch course

  • For more information regarding University rooms, please consult the following webpage [Dutch].

Please note that your chances to obtain a room in the University Halls of Residence are extremely slim since priority is given to students with a scholarship from the Flemish Community and students with no prior enrolment anywhere at a University or University College.

In case you still wish to apply, your application can be made through the same application procedure, but note there is an age limit (the same one as Flemish students): when you're older than 24 years at the start of the academic year, you will not be able to apply.

  • We strongly advise you to immediately look for a suitable living unit on the private rented market. Check our website for more information, tips, and tricks on private housing in Ghent.
