Advance scholarship for foreign internship or exchange

Students who are eligible for a grant for an internship or exchange abroad can apply for an advance.

Every student should have the opportunity to undertake an internship and/or exchange programme abroad during their studies.
Financial circumstances should not be a barrier. An advance on your grant can help cover the costs. 

Submit an application

  • Before you leave for abroad.
  • Between 01/08/2026 and 02/06/2027 for the 2026-2027 academic year.
  • You can submit your application via the social services digital student sysytem.

Deciding on the advance payment

  • This advance payment amounts to 80% of the expected value of your grant.
  • We are basing this on the standard amount, not the increased amount for grant students. 

Refund the advance payment

  • You must repay the advance directly to Social Services once you have received the full grant.
  • Please use the payment reference provided by our department to process the refund.
