Kristof Van Hecke becomes 'Fellow' of Chemistry Europe

(12-03-2024) Chemistry Europe's latest group of Fellows' consists of twenty-two outstanding researchers, and Ghent University professor Kristof Van Hecke is one of them.

Chemistry Europe announced its newest group of Fellows. The Fellows were selected for their significant contributions to Chemistry Europe and excellence in research, creativity and innovation.

One of the new Fellows is Ghent University professor Kristof Van Hecke. He specializes in crystallization and structural analysis by X-ray diffraction. Among other things, he uses these techniques in his research on the structure of new hybrid (nano)materials and flexible and photodynamic crystals as luminescent systems for optoelectronics and the conversion of light energy into mechanical motion. The applications of his research are endless, ranging from drug delivery to solar cells.

Chemistry Europe is an association of 16 chemical societies from 15 European countries, and is known for publishing a series of high-quality scientific journals on chemistry and the magazine Chemistry Views. The Fellows program, awarded biennially since 2015, honors outstanding members of Chemistry Europe societies. It recognizes individuals whose influential work enriches the field of chemistry and strengthens Chemistry Europe's collective efforts.

The award ceremony will take place during the EUChemS Congress in July in Dublin.
