Ingrid Moerman selected as IEEE Fellow

(15-12-2025) Prof. Ingrid Moerman (Faculty of Engineering and Architecture) has been selected as a Fellow of IEEE in recognition of her contribution to research into wireless technologies.

IEEE, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, brings together hundreds of thousands of engineers from around the world and annually honours a few hundred of them (less than 0.1% of its members) with the title of IEEE Fellow. This Fellowship is awarded to members with an exceptional track record who have made a significant contribution to their field and to society through their research or technological innovations.

More stable, more flexible and more reliable

Ingrid Moerman is affiliated with IDLab, the Internet Technology and Data Science Lab, at Ghent University-imec. She coordinates research into mobile and wireless networks, often in collaboration with European and other international partners. In addition to her research work, she is also chair of the Supervisory Board of ASTRID, the organisation responsible for crisis communication in Belgium.

Thanks to the research conducted by Prof. Moerman and her team, wireless networks are not only becoming faster and more powerful, but also more stable, flexible and reliable, which is essential for applications such as smart industry, the Internet of Things, crisis communication, connectivity in self-driving vehicles, and real-time data transfer in complex networks.
