Volunteering or working for the Green Office

Working at the Green Office

From Green Office Ghent we are looking for motivated students (m/f/x) within the association Ghent University, to join our team during the coming semesters. Within the Green Office model, we work with students and staff around a whole range of sustainable ideas and projects. So, if you want to help build a more sustainable Ghent University, we are looking for you!

Expectations and responsibilities

  • You can easily make yourself available for at least 8 hours a week during class weeks for 2 to 4 semesters.
  • You are not afraid to really get hands-on and you can not wait to help Ghent University get more sustainable.
  • You are good at keeping an overview of everything and synthesizing information.
  • You are good at working independently and are an expert in communication.

Why take this opportunity?

  • You will be part of a warm team of project staff, coordinating students, and staff
  • Within the Green Office, you will get support in all areas (coaching, formation, logistics, financial).
  • The Green Office is a learning place where experimenting is welcomed, even if it does not always go to plan.
  • In addition to an instructive work experience and dynamic team, we also reward your efforts with a fair financial compensation.
  • And... you contribute to a more sustainable university and future!

Volunteering

Do you not have the time or capacity to work 8 hours a week? Would you like to join an existing project? Do you have your own idea for an action, project or campaign? We also have a warm group of volunteers who are active within the Green Community.

For who?

  • All talents, backgrounds and profiles are welcome.
  • Within our activities, we also like to give space to (graphic) designers, website-designers, and bob(ette)-the-builder-skills.
  • Within the Green Office and Green Community, there is a wide variety of themes, projects, organisations,...
  • Whether your are interested in nature and greening, food, diversity, or education, you can come to us to explore anything, and to find your place within a project!

Why becoming a volunteer?

  • As a volunteer, you commit yourself to projects that are valuable to students, the university, and the world.
  • You can, sometimes literally, roll up your sleeves and be hands-on, you learn a lot, and you choose yourself what and how much you want to do.
  • You are a part of our warm community, where you can find support to realize your sustainable ideas.
  • Further benefits include the use of the Green Hub on Tuesdays, invitations to special events, and possibilities for trainings and workshops around sustainability.
Interested? Take a look at the Green Community website (in Dutch) for an overview of the projects, subscribe to our newsletter, follow us on our socials (Facebook and Instagram), or contact us via mail. You can come on an intake interview without any obligation to find out where your interests and talents fit the best, and you are guided throughout your complete sustainable adventure! Questions are also more than welcome.

Accessibility

We try to make the Green Office an inclusive place. The Green Hub is wheelchair accessible, and we can take a look together at how we can answer to other specific needs. Feedback and suggestions for improvement are always welcome.
