Welcome at Ghent University for International Students

From September 1 to 18 we invite all our new international students to Ghent University's Welcome Village at Stalhof 6.

Students arriving after September 18 should meet up with the International Support Team at Het Pand, Onderbergen 1, in Ghent. We welcome students from Monday September 21 till Friday October 2, every day between 9 and 12 am.



COVID-19 Test at Ghent University Welcome Village
New international students arriving in Belgium from a red or orange zone can come to the Ghent University Welcome Village for a COVID-19 test free of charge.
To see if you need to do a test, please consult our FAQ.
When? From Monday to Friday from 10AM-12AM and from 2PM-4PM
Where? Ghent University Welcome Village, Stalhof 6, Gent.
Afterwards? You will receive an e-mail from one of the Ghent University doctors with the result of your COVID-19 test, either positive or negative. Please check your personal e-mail/spam/new UGent e-mail account and follow the guidelines.

Ghent University’s Welcome Village

This semester Ghent University welcomes the new incoming international students at the Welcome Village.

Upon arrival in Gent all new international students have to come to the Welcome Village to initiate their stay and studies at Ghent University.

Don’t forget to wear your face mask!

From September 1 until September 18.

  • International Support Team: Monday to Friday, from 08 AM till 05 PM
  • Housing Department: Monday to Sunday, from 08 AM till 10 PM

  • A welcoming smile
  • Answers to your questions, especially related to all matters Corona related
  • A tote bag with information and goodies
  • Your Ghent University student card
  • Your key for your UGent Residence room (if applicable)
  • COVID-19 test (if applicable)


Partena, a health insurance company, and the Migration Desk of the City of Ghent will be present on the following days:

  • Partena:                
    • Tuesday September 1, from 09 AM until 05 PM
    • Monday September 14,  from 09 AM until 05 PM              
    • Tuesday September 15, from 09 AM until 05 PM                               
    • Wednesday September 16, from 09 AM until 05 PM
  • Migration Desk City Ghent:
    • Tuesday September 1, from 02 PM until 05 PM
    • Monday September 14, from 02 PM until 05 PM
    • Tuesday September 15, from 02 PM until 05 PM                               
    • Wednesday September 16, from 02 PM until 05 PM


The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) will join us in the Welcome Village as well. ESN invites all international student to participate in a City Game on September 19 at 01 PM. For those who have yet to finish their mandatory quarantine, they will have another City Game planned in the near future!
